how do i move the pics from my camera to a sd card

retrieving pictures from camera to pc

I have the Polaroid i834 and have installed my second set of new batteries (correctly). The camera appears to be taking pictures, but I can't download them to the laptop. Do I need to have new software? It seemed to be working on my old p.c. ok....
