Set date and time

Every day when I switch laptop on, the date and time have reset to default values and i have to enter them again. Is this a fault with laptop or battery problem?...

Laptop boots for a few seconds and then shuts down

I noticed that the battery was loosing charge but didn't think anything of it since I had it plugged into ac. All of a sudden it shut down and will not boot. It boots for a few seconds and then shuts down. It will not boot with just the ac power. Is my battery dead and need replaced?...
