DVD rom installation and use

How do I get my new DVD rom to play on my IBM Thinkpad 600e...

Off - on

every time i start my think pad up I get window that flickers back and forth with a circle stating off and a l stating on. However, it frozen and won't let me do anything? Any suggestions...

the hard drive was reformatted but not it will not boot from CD Rom or allow me to reinstall Win 98.

I have a 600E. The hard drive was reformatted. Now I can't reinstall Win98 and it will not acknowledge even the CD drive. Got any suggestions? ...
